#PSLV-C47 Successfully injects #Cartosat3 spacecraft into orbit.
13 Commercial Satellites from the USA Successfully placed in their designated orbits. #PSLVC47.
PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle)
- It is an indigenously-developed expendable launch system of the ISRO.
- designed mainly to deliver the "Earth-Observation" or "remote-sensing" satellites with a lift-off mass of up to about 1750 kg.
CARTOSAT-3
- 3rd generation agile advanced satellite having High-resolution imaging capability.
- The satellite was placed in an orbit of 509 km at an inclination of 97.5 degrees.
- Mr. Sivan said, "Cartosat-3 is India's highest resolution civilian satellite, and the most complex and advanced earth observation satellite ISRO has built so far".
- Launch mass - 1,625kg, Mission duration- 5years.
CARTOSAT Series
- CARTOSAT-1
- CARTOSAT-2, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F
- CARTOSAT-3
>One of CARTOSAT-3's Cameras Offers a ground resolution of 25cm
>Currently, WorldView-3 a satellite owned by US company Maxar, has the best ground resolution of 31cm.
American Satellites
- According to ISRO, 12 of the US nanosatellites, named FLOCK-4P, are earth observation satellite and the 13th is called MESHBED, a communication testbed satellite.
- Before today, India with its PSLV rocket has put into orbit 297 foreign satellites.
- When the PSLV rocket on Wednesday puts into 13 American nanosatellites then the total number of foreign satellites that India has launched will touch 310.
